Us old people like to say “If those kids wouldn’t be on their phones they wouldn’t have so many problems,” which may or may not be true according to the researched released in September by JAMA psychiatry. After a study of 6500 US adolescents the result in were clear: more than 3 hours a day on social media may be at heightened rise for mental health problems, particularly internalizing problems. There was a clear difference between those who spent less time on social media. However, those who just simply watched videos or played games, their mental health risk was significantly lower than those who spent 3 hours plus on social media. So now us old people need to say “If those kids would stay off social media…”
