They Just Don’t Listen
Have you ever said to your kids, or and kids, “You’re just not listening”? Truth is they are, just not for long. The average attention span has dropped from 12 seconds in 2000, to 8.25 seconds in 2015. The average goldfish has an attention span of 9 seconds. But it’s not that they aren’t listening, but that they have to make a quick decision and filter out what is important and entertaining because they have so much coming at them they have to sift through. So when we engage, teach, or converse with kids today, empath and sincerity will be the two factors that communicate in such a way that they will hear and understand.
