SUCCESS STORY- JACKIE

Jackie lights up every room she enters. She’s been doing that at Rise Up since the first grade! From day one, she and her family planned on her going to college. She excelled academically throughout her school career.

One of Jackie’s distinguishing characteristics is her desire to help others. She participated in our very first leadership training program. Jackie served in a variety of areas including cheerfully assisting parents, answering the phone, serving food, and helping in the classrooms.

Her mentor, Debbie Taylor, started mentoring Jackie when she was 9 years old. Debbie spent many hours taking her places, having sleepovers at her home, and celebrating her every accomplishment. Debbie says that while Jackie doesn’t skate nor participate in other sporting activities, she is willing to try anything, and she brings the joy with her.

Jackie will begin classes at Tennessee State University in the fall with nearly a full scholarship. We are confident that she will continue to shine as she always has!
